“which recovery peptide should i start with?” is the DM i get most often. so here’s the actual comparison, based on using all three.
the quick answer
| BPC-157 | TB-500 | GHK-Cu | |
|---|---|---|---|
| best for | targeted injury healing | systemic recovery | skin + collagen + hair |
| mechanism | angiogenesis at injury site | cell migration + new blood vessels | collagen synthesis + antioxidant |
| route | subcutaneous (near injury) | subcutaneous (anywhere) | subcutaneous or topical |
| onset | 7-14 days | 2-4 weeks | 3-6 weeks (skin) |
| side effects | minimal | mild fatigue on injection days | basically none |
| cost/month | $40-70 | $50-80 | $30-60 (injectable) |
| my rating | 9/10 | 7.5/10 | 8.5/10 |
BPC-157: the targeted healer
this is the one i recommend most for beginners. if you have a specific injury — tendon, joint, ligament, gut issue — BPC goes after it directly.
what it does well:
- localized healing (inject near the problem area)
- gut repair (it literally comes from a gastric protein)
- fast onset — most people feel something within 2 weeks
- extremely well-tolerated
where it falls short:
- doesn’t do much systemically
- less useful if you don’t have a specific thing to fix
my experience: used it for a climbing-related shoulder injury. within 3 weeks the pain that had been bothering me for months was noticeably better. by week 6 it felt like a different shoulder. full deep dive here.
TB-500: the whole-body recovery
TB-500 (thymosin beta-4 fragment) works differently — it’s systemic. instead of targeting one spot, it promotes healing throughout the body.
what it does well:
- whole-body recovery and reduced inflammation
- particularly good for muscle injuries
- promotes flexibility and range of motion
- stacks well with BPC-157 (they complement each other)
where it falls short:
- slower to notice effects
- the loading phase is annoying (2.5mg 2x/week for a month)
- some people feel fatigued on injection days
my experience: ran it alongside BPC. hard to isolate what TB specifically did vs the BPC, but overall recovery between training sessions was noticeably better. when i dropped TB and kept BPC, the general recovery benefit decreased.
GHK-Cu: the beauty peptide with substance
this one surprised me. i started it for skin and ended up getting benefits i didn’t expect.
what it does well:
- collagen synthesis (visible skin improvement by month 2-3)
- hair thickness and growth (unexpected but welcome)
- wound healing and tissue repair
- works both topically AND injectable
- virtually zero side effects
where it falls short:
- slow onset — you need patience
- not ideal for acute injuries (BPC is better for that)
- the injectable form isn’t necessary for most people
my experience: 6 months and counting. replaced my foundation. the skin texture changes are real. the hair changes were a bonus.
my stacking recommendation
if you’re new: start with BPC-157 solo. it’s the most straightforward, fastest to show results, and easiest to evaluate.
if you’re dealing with a specific injury: BPC-157 + TB-500 together. this is the classic recovery stack for a reason — they hit different mechanisms.
if you care about skin/anti-aging: add GHK-Cu topically. you can run it alongside either of the others without conflict.
the full stack: all three. i’ve run this combo and the results are the best i’ve seen. but start with one at a time so you know what’s actually doing what.
where i get mine
all three from the same vendor — consistent quality, proper COAs, and at this point i’ve ordered enough times to trust what’s in the vials. DM me if you want the source.
